Threaded Fittings

Banner Threaded Fittings

Threaded pipe fittings refer to pipe fittings connect with pipes by internal or external threads and their dimensions are no more than 4 inch in most cases. Thread connection is the oldest way that we still use today.

Most of forged threaded fittings are specified in ASME B16.11, including threaded elbow, threaded tee, threaded cross, half and full coupling, threaded cap, hex nipple, bushing, plug and more.

Why choose Threaded Fittings?

-Quick installation.

-Suitable for low-pressure applications, leakage integrity is good.

-Installation is easy, Special installation skill is not required.

-Less force is required for joining.

-Parts can be detached.

-Economic as cheaper.

For threaded connections there are three common types:

NPT (National Pipe Thread) are the most popular type of seal for pressure calibration systems. NPT male adapters have a taper thread that wedges into the female NPT adapter. They seal due to the “out of roundness principle” which means that the male stretches the female fitting until there is so much force that the connection can hold pressure.

BSP (British Standard Parallel Pipe) is most popular in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It is a parallel thread fitting that uses a bonded seal ring to do the sealing. This bonded ring seal is sandwiched in-between a shoulder on the male fitting and the face of the female fitting and is squeezed in place.

BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper) is similar to NPT except there are important differences. The angle across the flanks of threads (if you sliced the fitting in half long-ways and measured the angle from root to crest to root) is 55 degrees instead of 60 degrees as it is for NPT. Another important difference is that for many BSPT pipe sizes the thread pitch is different than NPT. Thus an NPT male will sometimes fit into a BSPT fitting or vice versa but they will not seal.

Hex Nipple:

Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L) Hex nipples typically have male threading on both ends of a hexagonal bolt shape in the centre. This allows for easy torqueing, tightening, or loosening using a wrench.

Adaptor:

Adaptor typically has male threading on one end while has female threading on other end. An adaptor helps connecting male and female connection.

Check Nut:

A check nut (also known as Lock Nut or Jam Nut) is used to ensure that a nut, once installed, will stay in place. Check Nut is usually thin and used in instances where there is a high probability of the first nut shaking or vibrating loose. These nuts are designed and used to prevent the first nut from becoming loose and potentially causing damage or injury when using a device. It is a secondary nut, screwing down upon the primary nut to secure it.

Threaded Coupling:

A threaded coupling (also known as Socket) is a short length of pipe or a tube which has a female threading from both sides which allows connecting a male threaded fitting. Usually comes in two types – Half Coupling and Full Coupling.

Sizes:1/8″ to 6” (NPT, BSP, BSPT)
Material: Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L)

Grease Nipple:

A Grease nipple is permanently installed by a taper thread, leaving a nipple connection that a grease gun attaches to. The pressure supplied by the grease gun forces a small captive bearing ball in the fitting to move back against the force of its retaining spring.

Sizes:M6 to M12 (Metric) ; 1/8″ to 3/4” (NPT, BSP, BSPT)
Material: Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L)

Barrel Nipple:

A Barrel Nipple has a short distance of unthreaded pipe between the two threaded ends, depending on how far apart the attached fittings are to be. In other words, there is a short length of pipe with male pipe threads at both ends for connecting other fittings.

Sizes: 1/8″ to 4” (NPT, BSP, BSPT); 2”Long to 12” Long
Material: Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L)

Hose Nipple:

A Hose nipple is a fitting which features a male threaded connection on one end and a hose barb on the other. The hose barb may be the same size as the pipe connection or it may be reduced.

Sizes:1/8″ to 4” (NPT, BSP, BSPT)
Material: Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L)

Hex Coupling:

A Hex Coupling (also known as Extension Nut) is a threaded fastener for joining two male threads. The outside of the fastener is usually a hex so a wrench can hold it.

Threaded Pipe Cap:

A Threaded Pipe Cap has decreased sides, which offers a near fit. A few of these fittings can be utilized either as a cap or a plug. Tapered caps and plugs are multi-functional and go well with male and female NPT/BSP threads, straight tubes and bars.

Pneumatic Silencer :

Pneumatic silencers are used to vent pressurized air to the atmosphere. Various Silencers are used depending on the flow and pressure of the air coming out of the exhaust port, the pneumatic air exiting the device could produce noise that is potentially harmful to workers in the surrounding environment or cause noise issues in the application (theatre applications). In addition to noise, the exhaust air may emit contaminants during operation. Using a silencer exhaust cleaner can prevent harmful contaminants from entering the environment.
